M2/M3 BFV: FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM - OD1608 - LESSON 1/TASK 4
FIGURE 31. ALIGNMENT OF THE GUN RETICLE
WITH THE BORESIGHT LAMP ON
THE BUDDY VEHICLE.
(10) Move the SENSOR SELECT switch to NIGHT.
(11) Turn the BRT knob to adjust the brightness and the CON knob
(refer to figure 25 on page 32) to adjust the contrast.
(12) Turn the FOCUS knob (refer to figure 25) to focus the gun
reticle. A freewheeling effect will be noticed if the FOCUS knob is
turned left more than seven to nine turns from a fully right
position.
(13) Check the alignment of the gun reticle on the thermal
resistor (figure 32 on the following page) of the buddy vehicle. If
the elevation crosshair and the azimuth crosshair in the gun reticle
are aligned on the thermal resistor of the buddy vehicle, the night
sight is boresighted.
However, if the elevation and azimuth
crosshairs of the gun reticle are not aligned with the thermal
resistor of the buddy vehicle, the night sight must be boresighted to
the daysight.
