Step 7. Drive the vehicle in order to check for proper operation of
the steering system.

Replace Steering Yoke Assembly.
This maintenance task covers
the removal and installation of the steering yoke assembly.
(1) Initial Setup.
(a) Tools. General mechanic's tool kit:
automotive and a 1/2
inch drive, 0 - 175 ft-lb torque wrench.
(b) Materials/Parts.
Three self-locking nuts.
(c) Personnel Required.
BFV systems mechanic.
(d) Equipment Conditions.
Engine is stopped.
(2) Procedural Steps for Removing the Steering Yoke Assembly.
NOTE
Locknuts should always be discarded after removal.
Step 1. Remove jack 1W32J1 (4) from switch assembly plug P1 (5) as
described in Step 3 of paragraph 5c(2) on page 24.
Step 2. Remove switch assembly (6) from bracket (7) as described in
Step 4 of paragraph 5c(2) on page 25, and then remove two clamps (10)
from the switch assembly (refer to figure 17 on page 25).
NOTE
Hand grips should only be removed if necessary.
If hand grips cannot be easily removed, cut them
off.
Step 3.
Remove two hand grips (1) from yoke (2) (see figure 22 on
the following page).
Step 4.
Remove yoke (2) from shaft (3) by removing locknut (4),
washer (5) woodruff key (6), and two bearings (7)(see figure 22).
