Scenario
SSG Thompson is a 63T30, who has been working behind a desk for two
years. Much to his surprise, he receives orders that inform him that
he will be transferred to a new unit.
This unit is short a motor
sergeant and he will be filling that TOE slot.
SSG Thompson is a
little nervous about becoming motor sergeant, so he decides to talk
to the man he is replacing about what his duties will entail.
While talking to SSG Gould, the man he is replacing, SSG Thompson
tries to find out all he can about how this motor pool operates.
Along with this information, SSG Gould provides SSG Thompson with the
names of the best mechanics in the motor pool. SSG Thompson is very
thankful for all the help he has received.
A week has passed since SSG Thompson was transferred and briefed for
motor sergeant.
So far, to his satisfaction, things are running
pretty smoothly except that he has noticed that many vehicles have
been arriving in the motor pool with steering system malfunctions.
Out of all the mechanics in the motor pool only one, SGT Fields,
seems to know how to perform the necessary troubleshooting and
maintenance.
While observing SGT Fields performing steering system
troubleshooting, SSG Thompson decides that the best way to
familiarize the other mechanics and himself with the troubleshooting
and maintenance procedures for the steering system is to have every
mechanic work with SGT Fields on a rotational basis.
This way SSG
Fields will be able to help them learn about the steering system.
To determine how much the other mechanics really need to learn about
the steering system, SGT Fields decides to make up a pretest to
include troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
