PART B - ASSEMBLY OF THE G/VLLD
At the organizational level, the G/VLLD operates either in the ground mode or in
the vehicle mode.
1.
Ground Mode.
In the ground mode, the G/VLLD uses the tripod mount for field operations.
To
transport the G/VLLD, the operators store the components in their prefitted cases
for rapid packing and unpacking.
These backpack assemblies require two men to
transport the G/VLLD.
The night sight, when used, requires a third man.
When
assembled, one man operates it from a kneeling or sitting position.
TM 9-1260-477-12 contains the assembly procedures for the G/VLLD at the
operator/organizational level. Appendix B contains an extract from this technical
manual, providing the procedures for assembly in the ground mode.
Refer to
appendix B for ground mode assembly procedures.
The format for the assembly procedures found in appendix B is as follows:

a. The column at the left margin of the instruction page identifies the

b. The ITEM heading at the first indentation from the left margin lists the
piece of equipment to be assembled. The item name is usually followed by a number
in parenthesis. This number corresponds to the circled number in the accompanying
illustration.
c. The ACTION column describes the steps to be performed.
Perform each
action in a step-by-step order.
d. To assemble the G/VLLD in the ground mode, you perform the operations
listed in appendix B. The procedure for the assembly of the G/VLLD consists of the
16 operations listed below.
1. Unpack tripod/TU.
2. Set up tripod/TU.
