The Bevel Gear Assembly.
The bevel gear assembly transmits the output power from the torque
converter to the transmission. The bevel gears of the assembly then
turn the left and right output shafts which transfer the power to the
The bevel gear
assembly also houses the input and output oil pumps and the push
start valve. Figure 1-11 provides an exploded view of the bevel gear
assembly.
4.
The Range Pack Assembly.
The range pack assembly is a group of clutch assemblies and planetary
gear assemblies which enable the change of transmission speed and
power.
The range pack also enables the vehicle to move in the
forward or reverse direction. The main items in the left side of the
transmission make up the range pack.
Before the range pack can be
removed from the transmission, you must remove all of the
transmission top components.
Figure 1-12 provides an exploded view
of the major components on the left side of the center housing
assembly.

The Hydrostatic Pump and Motor Assembly.
This assembly serves as the power steering unit.
The hydrostatic
pump and motor assembly provide the hydraulic pressure to the
steering control valves, which in turn regulate the amount of oil
The controlled oil pressure
regulates the amount of steering obtained.
Figure 1-6 illustrates
where the hydrostatic pump and motor are installed in the
transmission.
