Limiting Speed Mechanical Governor.
x. The Oil Cooler (Fig. 20). This engine uses a two element oil
cooler to cool the engine and transmission oil. This assembly mounts
to the left side of the cylinder block, at the lower front corner.
Engine coolant circulates through the oil cooler elements and then
passes through the radiator for removal of the heat by air flowing
over the radiator elements.
(throwaway type) consists of an element sealed within a shell mounted
on an adapter. All of the oil supplied to the engine by the oil pump
passes through the filter before reaching the various parts of the
engine.
The oil pump forces oil through a passage in the filter's
filtered out as the oil is forced through the element to a passage
surrounding the center stud.
The oil leaves the filter through
another passage in the filter's base and enters the oil cooler.
Located in the filter's base is the bypass valve. This valve opens
at approximately 18 to 21 psi and allows oil to bypass the filter
element and go directly to the oil cooler should the filter become
clogged.
