Introduction
The 5 ton, 6x6, M939 series vehicles are designed for use on all
types of roads, highways, and cross-country terrain. These vehicles
also operate in extreme temperatures, such as arctic weather
conditions. The M939 series vehicles are an improved version of the
M809 series.
The improvements make the M939 series vehicles more
reliable and easier to operate.
All vehicles in the M939 series employ the same 250 horsepower engine
as the M809 series vehicles.
The M939 series vehicles are equipped
with a 5 speed automatic transmission.
Vehicle cabs have removable
canvas tops.
All vehicles are equipped with a spare wheel, mounted
at the rear of the cab, and a pintle hook that is used for towing.
This subcourse will describe the characteristics, operation, and
maintenance problems common to the M939 5 ton series FOV. This task
will be devoted to describing the characteristics and operation of
the M939 FOV.
