places in the dividend to the left.
EXAMPLE
To divide 2.4 by 0.01, follow the rule above and move the decimal point in
the dividend two places to the right.
Add one zero, making the quotient
240.
2.4 ƒ 0.01 = 240
To divide 2.4 by 100, move the decimal point in the dividend two places to
the left, adding one zero, making the quotient .024.
2.4 ƒ 100 = .024

Accuracy
In many cases, it is not practical or possible to carry out a problem to
absolute accuracy.
It may be practical to seek a result correct to a
certain number of places of decimals only.
If so, write a plus or minus
sign (as the case may be) after the last figure to the right, such as .667-
or .666+. The (+) sign is used to show that the result is
