PRACTICAL EXERCISE - ANSWERS

Requirement
a.
A series of grille doors.

During operation of the engine the cooling fans mounted on top of the
engine draw ambient air through the grille doors into the engine
compartment. Heated air is pulled from around the engine, through the
engine cylinder fins, oil cooler, and engine shroud, and is discharged
vertically through the engine rear deck hoods.
c.
The fan clutch is designed to slip under deep water fording operations
and will not turn the cooling fans.

(1) Electric, mounted inside each fuel tank;
(2) gear-type, mounted on the front center of the engine; (3) fuel
injector pump, mounted on the "V" of the engine between the cooling
fans.

Operate the engine at approximately 200 F and cautiously feel the oil

cooler lines; both should feel hot.
j.
First loosen the nut on the leaking end of the fuel line and retighten
it.
When the sleeve on the fitting is seated, draw the nut up at
least 1/6 but no more than 1/3 of a turn more to complete tightening.
