Safety Features
a.
General.
It is important that the operator and maintenance
personnel
observe
all
warnings
and
safety
precautions
while
operating, or maintaining the 6000 pound forklift. General warnings
are mentioned in the approved technical manuals. The safety features
mentioned in this section should be adhered to and become second
nature when one is associated with or operating this piece of
equipment.
b.
Steering Jack.
This component prevents the steering control
lever from accidentally going into the CRAB or CRAMP position.
c.
Brake Pressure Switch. This switch activates the warning buzzer
when the accumulator pressure is lower than 1300 psi.
d.
Neutral Lock Knob.
This knob locks the transmission in the
neutral position, if necessary, when conducting maintenance on the
vehicle.
e.
Boo m Supports.
These are large wooden blocks used to support
the forklift boom while maintenance is being performed.
When the
boom is required to be in the raised position, the blocks will
prevent the boom from slipping or accidentally coming down on the
person working on the vehicle.
f.
Roll Over Protection System (ROPS).
During operation, this
system prevents the vehicle from rolling over due to the terrain or
overloading of the vehicle trapping or injuring the operator.
g.
Seat Belts. Seat belts are required to be worn during operation
of the forklift.
This safety device will prevent the operator from
being thrown out of the vehicle and injured during any unforeseen
circumstance.
