TROUBLESHOOTING THE M998 ELECT SYST. - OD1617 - LESSON 1/TASK 1
Step 4.
Disconnect leads 27D, 399, and 400 from the heater fan
switch.
Using the multimeter, check for continuity through the
heater fan switch between terminals 27D and 399 with the switch in
the LO position, and terminals 27D and 400 with the switch in the HI
position.
If continuity is not present in both positions, replace
the heater fan switch, following the procedures contained in
paragraph 10-57 of the TM. However, if continuity is present, check
for continuity from lead 400 at the heater switch to lead 400D at the
heater motor. If continuity is present, replace the heater resistor,
following the procedures contained in paragraph 10-58 of the TM.
However, if continuity is not present, repair the body wiring
harness, following the procedures contained in paragraph 4-62 of the
TM. If the wiring harness is beyond repair, notify IDS maintenance.
g.
Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
While reading through these
paragraphs, concerning troubleshooting of the windshield wiper/washer
system, refer to figure 7 on the following page.
Malfunction: WIPER MOTOR INOPERATIVE (GAGES OPERATE).
Step 1.
Inspect the mechanical linkage for evidence of binding or
Replace any linkage found to be defective, using the
procedures cited in paragraph 10-48.of the TM.
Step 2. Using the multimeter, check for continuity between lead 57F
at the wiper motor and ground. If continuity is not present, repair
the body wiring harness, following the procedures contained in
paragraph 4-62 of the TM.
If the wiring harness is beyond repair,
notify IDS maintenance.
Step 3.
Disconnect lead 27K from the wiper motor and, using the
multimeter, check for battery voltage at lead 27K with the rotary
switch in the RUN position.
If battery voltage is present, repair
the body wiring harness, following the procedures contained in
paragraph 4-62 of the TM. If the wiring harness cannot be repaired,
notify IDS maintenance.
