engine wiring harness connector at the protective control box to the
engine wiring harness at the glow plug controller.
o Terminal C at the protective control box connector to terminal 4
at the glow plug controller (lead 570A).
o Terminal B at the protective control box connector to terminal 3
at the glow plug controller (lead 459A).
o Terminal H at the protective control box connector to terminal 1
at the glow plug controller (lead 573A).
o Terminal A at the protective control box connector to terminal 6
at the glow plug controller (5642/5834).
If any of the leads do not have continuity, repair the engine wiring
harness following the procedures cited in paragraph 4-62, page 4-110
of the TM.
If the wiring harness is beyond repair, notify IDS/IGS
maintenance.
Step 2.
Start the engine and check for a 12-15 volts dc signal at
If no voltage is present or if the voltage is
not within the limits, replace the alternator following the
procedures in paragraph 4-2, page 4-2 of the TM. If 12-15 volts dc
is present, replace the protective control box following the
procedures in paragraph 4-5, page 4-12 of the TM.
