TROUBLESHOOTING THE HMMWV - OD1616 - LESSON 2/TASK 1
Step 8. Check the Ignition Voltage Sense Output. SSG Roberts turns
off the vehicle lights and accessories, then he shuts down the
engine.
He now connects the red lead to the switch side of the
sensing wire and the black lead of cable W2 to any suitable ground.
With these connections made, SSG Roberts turns the rotary switch to
the ON position and checks to see if the reading on the display is
near battery voltage. Since it is near battery voltage, SSG Roberts
is directed to replace the alternator following the procedures in
paragraph 4-2, page 4-2 of the TM.
After he completes the repair, SSG Roberts reruns the Go Chain test
to ensure that the malfunction has been corrected and that no
additional malfunctions exist.
(2) No-Go Test 05.
For this test procedure, our fictitious
individual (SGT Reed) will follow those test procedure pathways that
lead to the conclusion that the wrong type oil and filter were used.
Step 1. Install Transducer and Do Offset. First, SGT Reed ensures
that the vehicle engine is stopped. He then removes the oil pressure
sending unit, following the procedures in paragraph 4-25, page 4-43
of the TM.
He installs the pressure transducer (the pressure
transducer is the one with the blue stripe) in place of the sending
unit on the engine.
After the transducer has been installed, SGT
Reed connects plug P1 of the transducer cable W4 to jack J3 on the
VTM.
He then connects plug P2 of the transducer cable to the
Once this has been completed, SGT Reed dials 50 into the TEST SELECT
switches and presses and holds the TEST button until the prompting
message CAL appears on the display.
When this message is received,
SGT Reed releases the TEST button and waits for the offset value to
appear on the display. The offset value should be within the limits
of -150 to +150. Since the display was well within these limits, SGT
Reed is directed to proceed to step 2.
Step 2. Check Oil Pressure. SGT Reed dials 01 into the TEST SELECT
switches and presses the TEST button.
When the prompting message
PASS appears on the display, he dials 50 into the TEST SELECT
switches and once again presses the TEST
