Introduction
The fire suppression system on the M2/M3 Bradley fighting vehicle is
a sophisticated system designed to provide maximum protection
automatically to the crew while minimizing damage to the vehicle in
the event of a fire.
In some tank systems, it is possible to wait
until symptoms occur that indicate a malfunction in the system before
looking for the cause of the malfunction and correcting the problem.
However, a malfunction or failure in the fire suppression system can
cost lives; therefore, it is important to be sure that the system is
fully operational at all times. Maintenance of the fire suppression
system must be performed after any fire suppression system bottle is
discharged.
This subcourse will describe the maintenance and troubleshooting
procedures for the M2/M3 Bradley fighting vehicle fire suppression
system.
In this lesson, the components of the fire suppression
system will be identified.
