Procedural Steps for Removal of the Encoder and Slipring. Three preliminary
procedures must be completed before the encoder and slipring assembly can be
removed.
These procedures are described in subparagraphs 2b(1) through 2b(3)
below.
(1)
Removal of the Center Turret Floor Plate.
Remove four screws, washers,
and the floor plate from the frame.
(2)
Removal of the Relay Box Assembly 2A27.
CAUTION
Incorrect cable removal can cause a short circuit. Be sure
to remove the negative cable before removing the positive
cable.
Step 1.
Lift cover and remove nut and cable 2W15 from the clamp.
Step 2.
Lift cover and remove nut and lead 2W2 from the clamp.
Step 3.
Remove three plugs from three jacks on the relay box, as follows:
(a)
2W17P2 from 2A27J3,
(b)
2W1P3 from 2A27J1, and
(c)
2W2P4 from 2A27J2.
Be sure to tag the plugs.
Step 4.
Remove four locknuts, washers, and then the relay box from the mounts.
Discard locknuts.
