1.
Introduction
The
slipring is the main unit for the electrical and hydraulic connections between
the
hull and turret.  The encoder, located on top of the slipring on the center of
the
turret floor, codes the movement of the slipring (in inches) and relays it to
the
azimuth indicator (in mils).
This task will contain an example of the replacement procedure for the encoder and
slipring assembly.

Maintenance of the Encoder and Slipring Assembly
This paragraph will cover the removal and installation of the encoder and slipring
assembly.
