You have prepared the sensing element for installation. If you removed the
24 mounting and clip assemblies (Item 5, Figure 13) during the removal
mounts, securing each with one screw and a new lockwasher (Items 7 and 8,
Figure 13). After installing the mounting and clip assemblies, install the
24 rubber bushings (Item 6, Figure 13), equally spaced, along the length of
the sensing element (Item 1, Figure 13).
If the mounting and clip
assemblies were not removed, only the installation of the 24 rubber
bushings, equally spaced along the length of the element, is required. Now
install the sensing element. REMEMBER to install the new sensing element in
the original location and use the original routing of the removed element.
With the sensing element in the installed position, move the rubber bushings
(Item 6, Figure 13) on to the sensing element. One rubber bushing must wrap
around the sensing element at each mounting and clip assembly. The sensing
element is now secured in the mounting and clip assembly (Item 5, Figure 13)
by flipping the clip over each rubber bushing and securing the clip by
turning the quarter-turn fastener.
The next step in the installation process is to connect the straight and
elbow couplings to the sensing element connectors (Items 1, 2, and 3, Figure
12). To accomplish this task, remove the cap assemblies from the straight
and elbow couplings, join the sensing element connectors to the couplings,
and tighten the sensing element connectors.
CAUTION
Before installing connector assemblies, thoroughly
clean connector fittings with electrical contact
cleaner.
Now install the starter relay assembly.
Upon installation of the starter
relay assembly, the powerpack is ready for installation.
Powerpack
installation must be accomplished using the assistance of the Self-Propelled
Field Artillery System Mechanic, MOS 63D.
