1 Take measurement of installation such as center to center
of pipe, requiring two fittings ((c) above).
2 Measure size of fitting or fittings as shown in figure 123
on the previous page.
3 Subtract total size of the two fittings from measurement
obtained in 1 above.
4 Multiply approximate thread length ((d) above) by 2 and add
the result to the length obtained in 3 above. This will give the length of
pipe required.
(2) Cutting Pipe.
(a) Measure the length of pipe necessary ((1) on page 162) and
mark the spot where the cut is to be made with a scriber or crayon.
(b) Lock the pipe securely in a pipe vise (figure 124).
