BLACKSMITH'S AND PIPE VISES.
(4) Blacksmith's Vise. The blacksmith's vise (figure 41) is used for
holding work that must be pounded with a heavy hammer. It is fastened to a
sturdy workbench or wall, and the long leg is secured into a solid base on
the floor.
(5) Pipe Vises. A pipe vise (figure 41) is specifically designed to
hold round stock. The vise shown has a capacity of 1 to 3 inches. One jaw
is hinged so that the work can be positioned
