Some side cutting pliers are
designed so they can be reground. Examine pliers carefully to see if the
design will permit them to close completely if material is ground from the
cutting edges. Do not attempt to sharpen pliers not designed to be ground,
such as diagonal cutting pliers. Separate pliers, if possible, and place in
a vise. Grind the cutting edges so that the ground bevel is at right angles
with the inside machined bevel (figure 39 on the following page). Grind the
same amount of stock from both jaws, but no more than necessary to
