Personnel awarded this MOS are responsible for performing troubleshooting, fault
isolation, and correction of malfunctions of the various BFV systems.
These
maintenance functions are described in the following paragraphs using a
representative vehicle, the BFV.
2.
Initial Setup
a.
General.
As with other vehicles, certain conditions must exist before
performing maintenance functions on any system of the BFV.
These conditions
include the tools, materials, parts, personnel, and references that must be
available before performing any maintenance function. In addition, certain safety
precautions must be taken to prevent injury to personnel and damage to the
equipment. The following paragraphs describe procedures for troubleshooting, fault
isolating, and correcting the malfunctions detected.
b.
Tools.
A list of the required tools follows:
(1) General mechanic's toolkit: automotive.
(2) Ground hop kit.
(5) Electrical connector pliers.
(6) STE-M1/FVS (VTM only).
