On the warning
light
panel
directly
below
the
M17
periscope.
A warning light panel is mounted to the front of the
driver, approximately at eye level, and below the M17
periscope, on both the A2 and A3 configurations.
The
transmission oil temperature light, the engine oil high
locations are similar on both the A2 and A3 configurations.
The differences between the two panels is that the A2 panel
is equipped with a differential oil high-temp light and a
high-beam headlight indicator, while the A3 panel is
equipped with an engine coolant low level warning light and
a steering locked indicator light. (page 19, para 3)

D.
Lessens the potential hazard of fire in the
crew
compartment as a result of penetrating rounds.
On previous carrier models, the fuel tanks were of
fiberglass construction and were mounted in the left rear
portion of the carrier, between the hull armor plating and
the personnel compartment; this location presented the
possibility of fire in the crew compartment should the fuel
tank be hit by penetrating rounds.
The armored external
tank lessens the potential hazard to crew and equipment
when mounted externally from the crew compartment.
