- The AC generator, because of its rectifier bridge, willnot allow current to backflow into it
during shutdown. This eliminates the need for a cutout relay.
- The AC generator will limit its current automatically by regulating the voltage. A current
regulator, therefore, is not needed in the voltage regulator.
Because a cutout relay and a current regulator are not necessary, an AC generator voltage regulator
contains only a voltage regulation element. The illustration shows a typical single-element voltage
