(a) Mass. All turboshaft engines attain their high rotational
torque output, or power, from energy transferred to the turbines by the
accelerated airmass within the engine. Figure 117 illustrates this concept.
Within container 1, there is a certain amount of air molecules; the exact
amount is referred to as mass. This airmass is one of the key components
required to drive the turbine in the mass acceleration principle.
