MAINTENANCE OF THE M88A1 - OD1672 - LESSON 1/PE 1
PRACTICAL EXERCISE 1
1.
Instructions
Read the scenario and respond to the requirements that follow the scenario.
2.
Scenario
You are the maintenance officer for an armored battalion stationed in West
Germany.  Until recently your battalion has experienced a shortage of track
vehicle mechanics.  The few track mechanics that you have are being used to
perform maintenance on the M60A3, the AVLB (armor vehicle launch bridge),
and M113 track vehicles of the battalion.  Maintenance on the M88A1 recovery
vehicle has been on a catch-as-catch-can basis.
Since replacement personnel in MOS 63N (M60A1/A3 Tank System Mechanic) are
expected to arrive in about six months, the personnel replacement center has
provided  your  unit  with  five  MOS  63B  (Light-Wheel  Vehicle  Mechanic)
personnel, which you will have to cross-train to perform unit maintenance on
the M88A1 recovery vehicle.  You, therefore, develop a training plan for the
M88A1 recovery vehicle and, as part of this plan, you develop several
questions to be administered to personnel at the end of this training to
ensure that the objectives have been accomplished.
3.
Requirement
Your task is to provide the correct answers to these questions.
Use the
