FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT.
The procedures for replacing the fuel level sending unit are contained
in the following subparagraphs.
(2) Repair Procedures.
Prior to beginning the actual repair
procedure SGT Price reads through the Initial Setup section of the
procedure to determine the necessary tools and equipment.
For this
maintenance task, SGT Price will need only a mechanic's general
toolbox.
Once he has procured the toolbox and gone out to the
vehicle, he disconnects the batteries following the procedures
contained in paragraph 7-91 of TM 9-2320-279-20-1.
NOTE
Tag and mark wires before removing.
SGT Price is now ready to begin the actual maintenance task. He first
removes the nut (1) (figure 32 on the following page), lockwasher (2),
and disconnects the wire (3) from the fuel level sending unit (4). He
removes the five screws (5) holding the fuel level sending unit to the
fuel tank (6). Now SGT Price removes the ground wire (7). He lifts
the fuel level sending unit (figure 33 on the following page) with the
gasket (8) out of the fuel tank.
