M2/M3 BFV: FIRE SUPPRESSION SYST - OD1607 - LESSON 2/PE 2
PRACTICAL EXERCISE 2
1.
Instructions
Read the scenario and respond to the requirements that follow the
scenario.
2.
Scenario
While reviewing the Bradley fighting vehicle fire suppression system
with your unit, you emphasize that a failure in the system can be
deadly and that malfunctions must, therefore, be detected before they
occur in the field.
As an exercise for fire prevention month, you
decide that the fire suppression systems on the two Bradley fighting
vehicles in your shop should be checked by performing the test and
troubleshooting procedures in TM 9-2350-252-20-1-1.
3.
First Requirement
The following steps have been performed on the first vehicle:
a.
STE-M1/FVS (VTM only) test number 67 resulted in a reading of 28
volts.
The gage pressure readings for both fire bottles are within
specified limits.
b.
The system has been deactivated and the ground cable installed.
c.
When the MASTER POWER switch and ENGINE ACCESSORY switch were
turned ON and the PUSH TO TEST switch was pressed, the MANUAL light
came ON.
d.
A voltage measurement between FIRE SUPPRESSION switch terminal 3
and ground showed the presence of 28 volts.
Identify the connection that must be checked if these conditions
exist, and describe what must be done to complete the troubleshooting
procedure if that connection is good.
