INTRODUCTION
As an Army maintenance provider, you have dedicated yourself to
giving the M1A1 series tank the best possible maintenance.
Through
the Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and scheduled
maintenance you perform, you keep the vehicle operational.
This
ensures that you and your unit can perform your mission on today's
battlefield, and you help maintain unit readiness at a high level.
The NBC protection system is a critical system for the M1A1 series
tank.
It may not fire the projectile or destroy enemy targets;
however, the NBC system does protect the crew of the tank against the
effects of an NBC attack and enable them to carry out their mission.
Your function in the battle plan requires you to maintain and keep
the M1A1 series tank operational.
For you to continue to fulfill
this function and improve your skills as a maintenance provider, you
must understand the NBC protection system on the M1A1 series tanks as
described in this lesson.
