WELDING THEORY - OD1650 - LESSON 1/PE1
LESSON 1. PRACTICAL EXERCISE - ANSWERS
Requirement
1.
The term weldability means the capacity of a metal to be fabricated by a welding process
into a structure that will perform its purpose satisfactorily.
2.
Metals with high thermal conductivity are difficult to weld because they transfer the heat
away from the weld so rapidly that the required temperature cannot be maintained at the
joint.
3.
The function of a welding symbol is to provide the means for placing complete and
concise welding information on drawings.
4.
designate the type of weld to be made, its location, dimensions, extent, contour, and other
supplementary information.
5.
The eight elements of a welding symbol are: reference line; arrow; basic weld symbols;
dimensions and other data; supplementary symbols; finish symbols; tail; and the
specification, process, or other reference.
6.
7.
FLOW
8.
Automatic welding, machine welding, manual welding, and semi-automatic welding.
