workpiece and complete the cutting of the keyway in a series of draw cuts,
keeping the lathe spindle motionless.

Maintenance.
(1) Lead Screw Backlash.
(a) If backlash develops in the lead screw, it is removed either by
eliminating the end play in the top cap, or by adjusting the fit-up of the
lead screw bushing.
(b) Inside the graduated collar is a threaded retainer collar.
This
threaded collar governs the tightness or preload on the lead screw thrust
accomplished by tightening the threaded retainer collar until a slight
binding is felt, and then locking the threaded collar with the set screw.
