e. Standards of Temperature.
The universal standard measuring
temperature is 68F, or 20C.
At this temperature, the standard 1 inch
equals 2.54 centimeters, which is also a universal conversion factor for
measuring length ((1) above).
The Fahrenheit and Centigrade measuring
standards are used throughout the world; however, there is a third
temperature measuring system called the Reaumur which is rapidly becoming
obsolete. For our purposes, refer to figure 160 for converting Fahrenheit
to Centigrade and vice versa. The temperature conversion formulas used are
as described in (a) through (c) below.
