M2/M3 BFV: TROUBLESHOOTING - OD1610 - LESSON 1/TASK 2
SELECT switches to 38.
Press and hold the TEST button until the display
reads CAL; then release the TEST button. Observe the display, which should
indicate a temperature somewhere between 150 F to 190 F.
If the
temperature reading is between these limits, return to and continue with the
troubleshooting procedures that were being followed. Had the display shown
.0.0.0.0 and/or .9.9.9.9, turn to the STE-M1/FVS (VTM only) test number 38
diagnostic troubleshooting procedures on page 3-950 of TM 9-2350-252-20-1-1.
(3) VTM Test Number 67. Test number 67 is used to perform two tests,
both dealing with battery voltage.
The difference, however, lies in the
fact that one is performed with the engine off and the other performed with
the engine running.
In the paragraphs that follow, the procedures for
performing both of these tests will be covered.
(a) Battery Voltage - Engine Off. To perform this test procedure,
first ensure that the vehicle is parked, the engine is off, and the tracks
are chocked. For this test, the VTM must be connected only to DCA 3. This
test procedure cannot be performed if the VTM is connected to DCA 13.
So, with the vehicle parked, engine off, tracks chocked and the VTM
connected to DCA 3, let's proceed. First, set the TEST SELECT switches to
67. Then press and release the TEST button and observe and note the reading
on the display. If the display shows 0 volts, we would be directed to the
STE-M1/FVS (VTM only) test number 67 diagnostic troubleshooting procedures
on page 3-981 of TM 9-2350-252-20-1-1. If the display reads another value,
other than 0 volts, return to the troubleshooting procedures that were being
followed.
(b) Battery Voltage - Engine Running. To perform this test, set
the TEST SELECT switches to 01. Press and release the TEST button. Wait
for the display to read PASS, then set the TEST SELECT switches to 67. Now
start the engine, following the procedures contained on pages 2-144 thru 2-
151 of TM 9-2350-252-10-1.
Once the engine is started, place the SERVICE
DRIVE LIGHT switch to the ON position. Once again, press and release the
TEST button. Two different numbers will flash on the display. Depress the
accelerator pedal until the
