Introduction
The word "troubleshooting" is defined by Army Regulation (AR) 310-25,
Dictionary of United States Army Terms, as the process of investigating and
detecting the cause of equipment malfunctions. This definition covers the
word troubleshooting only partially; however, it leaves out the one key word
essential in all troubleshooting procedures.
That key word is "logical."
Troubleshooting, therefore, is the logical process of investigating and
detecting the cause of equipment malfunction.
In the upcoming task, the techniques of logical troubleshooting will be
discussed.
Upon completion of this task, the student should not only be
able to describe the logical techniques of troubleshooting, but should also
be able to use them to troubleshoot everything from the family car to a
Bradley fighting vehicle (BFV).
