passages in the cylinder heads to the injectors. The fuel then goes
through a filter element, within the injector, to a chamber for
metering.
Once metered, the injector forces fuel through the fuel
injector spray tip, atomizing the fuel and injecting the fuel into
the combustion chamber.
The excess fuel not required for engine
operation circulates through the injectors and fuel return lines as a
coolant, and returns to the fuel tank.

d. The Lubrication System.
The lubrication system (Fig. 3)
consists of an oil intake screen and tube assembly, oil pump,
pressure regulator, oil filter, bypass valve, and oil cooler.
The
crankshaft drives the rotary oil pump bolted to the back of
