f. Oil and Fuel Filters. Some of the 6V53 engines use remotely
mounted oil and fuel filters; on the 6V53T series, these components
mount on the engine.
The 6V53T primary and secondary fuel filters
mount on the right side of the engine, and the oil filter mounts on
the left side of the engine.
g. Trunnion Bracket and Engine Damper Plate.
The 6V53 uses a
trunnion bracket and an engine damper plate while the 6V53T does not
use these components.
h. Thermostat Housing and Oil Level Gage Rod. The 6V53 and the
6V53T engines are fitted with different types of thermostat housing
and gage rod configurations (fig. 1-8 and 1-9).
Figures 1-8 through 1-10 illustrate the location of the various
components of the 6V53 and the 6V53T diesel engines.
