INTRODUCTION TO THE HMMWV - OD1615 - LESSON 2/TASK 1
of the front suspension. Tie rods connect the geared hubs and wheels to the
steering linkage on the front suspension, and spherical ball joints allow
turning movement transmitted by the steering linkage.
c. Components of the Rear Suspension System.
The rear suspension
system components are identical to the front suspension system components,
with the exception of the radius rod.
The radius rod attaches the geared
hub (in the rear). In the front, this is done through the use of the tie
rod.
