Lesson 2/Learning Event 1
intake stroke of the engine, the fuel metering pump forces a charge of fuel of the exact amount for the load
and speed of the engine into the cup.
Pressure-Time System
This system operates on the principle that changing the pressure of a liquid flowing through a pipe changes
the amount of liquid coming out the open end. (Increasing the pressure increases the amount of liquid
delivered.)
The pressure-time system consists of the fuel pump (with governor), the supply and drain lines, and the
injectors.
