Introduction

tools having a number of cutting edges called teeth. Such tools are known
as milling cutters or mills. In order to machine many configurations in a
milling machine, man has developed various types of milling cutters to fit
the necessary requirements.
Most milling cutters are made of high speed
steel; some employ the use of carbide teeth and inserts. In this task, the
types, nomenclature, and use of milling cutters will be described.
