MAINTENANCE OF THE M88A1 - OD1672 - LESSON 3/TASK 2
(c) Since the voltmeter reads 24 vdc, disconnect circuit 82 at the
engine disconnect.
Measure the voltage of circuit 82 from the  engine
disconnect plug pin E and pin B to ground.
The voltmeter should read 24
vdc.
(d) Since the  voltmeter reads 24 vdc, disconnect the  starter motor
ground circuit at the engine disconnect.
Measure the resistance of the
ground circuit from the engine disconnect plug pin E and pin B to the
vehicle chassis.  The ohmmeter should read zero Ohms.
(e) Since the ohmmeter reads zero Ohms, measure the resistance of the
starter motor ground circuit from the ground terminal of the starter motor
to pin E and pin B of the engine disconnect receptacle.  The ohmmeter should
read zero Ohms.
(f) Since  the  ohmmeter  reads  zero  Ohms,  measure  the  resistance  of
circuit 82 from the engine disconnect receptacle pin B and pin E to circuit
82 terminal on the starter solenoid.  The ohmmeter should read zero Ohms.
(g) Since the ohmmeter reads zero Ohms, measure the resistance from the
ground terminal on the starter motor to the ground terminal on the starter
solenoid.  The ohmmeter should read zero Ohms.
(h) Since the ohmmeter reads zero Ohms, inspect the interconnecting bus
bar  from  the  starter  motor  to  the  starter  solenoid  for  security  and
tightness on the terminals.
(i) Since  the  bus  bar  is  secure  and  tight,  reconnect  all  engine
disconnect plugs.
Disconnect the starter-module plug.
Depress the START
switch (figure 28, view C, on page 66) and at the same time measure the
voltage from the starter-module plug pin A to ground.  The voltmeter should
read 24 vdc.
(j) Since the voltmeter reads 24 vdc, measure the voltage from the
starter-module plug pin B to ground.  The voltmeter should read 24 vdc.
(k) Since the voltmeter reads 24 vdc, disconnect circuit 82 at the
engine disconnect.  Measure the resistance from the bus bar terminal on the
starter motor to the engine chassis.  The ohmmeter should read zero Ohms.
