(4) Use caution when inflating the tires.
Make sure that the
tires are properly seated on the rims before inflating them.
Improperly seated tires can burst with an explosive force sufficient
to cause death of personnel.
(5) Use protective goggles and gloves when working around or on
the battery as the battery electrolyte is toxic and corrosive. Avoid
contact with the skin, eyes, clothes and don't breathe the vapors.
Improper ventilated areas and
lengthy exposure to exhaust gases can produce symptoms of headaches,
dizziness, loss of muscular control, and/or a coma. Permanent brain
damage or death can result from severe exposure of these fumes.
Therefore, ensure that your personnel follow these safety rules:
(a) Don't operate the heater or engine in an enclosed area
unless it is properly ventilated.
(b) Don't drive with any of the truck's
cover plates, or the hood off, unless it
is necessary for
(c) If exhaust odors or exposure symptoms are noticed,
IMMEDIATELY VENTILATE THE AREA. If the symptoms persist, remove the
affected people and treat them by exposing them to fresh air; if
necessary, give them artificial respiration; keep them warm and don't
permit them to perform physical exercise.
Finally, have the medics
check them out to ensure they are out of danger.
device when operating the vehicle. The noise level exceeds 85 dB(A)
at three feet in front of the vehicle and 15 feet at the side, and 24
feet at the rear of the vehicle.
(e) Safety belts are required to be fastened and worn before
starting the engine and operating the vehicle.
(f) Make sure that the steering bypass valve is closed (fully
clockwise) and that the shipping lock pin is removed before operating
the vehicle. Failure to do so will cause loss of steering control,
which could result in death or serious injury.
