PRINCIPLES GASOLINE/DIESEL FUEL SYSTEMS - OD1620 - LESSON 2/TASK 2
TIMING DEVICE OPERATION.
(1) General. Engines are equipped with a flame-type manifold heater
for heating the induction air during cold weather starting and warmup
(2) Operation. The flame heater assembly is composed of a housing,
spark plug, flow control nozzle, and two solenoid control valves. The spark
plug is energized by the flame heater ignition unit. The nozzle sprays fuel
ignited by the spark plug and burns in the intake manifold, heating the air
