M2/M3 BFV: FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM - OD1608 - LESSON 1/PE 1
PRACTICAL EXERCISE 1
1.
Instructions
Read the scenario and respond to the requirements that follow the
scenario.
2.
Scenario
The last time General Culberston came for a demonstration of the
accurate fire power of the Bradley fighting vehicle, the unit's crack
gunner  was  selected  to  put  on  an
impressive  demonstration.
Unfortunately, through a terrible mix-up, the gunner and crew took
the one vehicle from the shop that was badly in need of boresighting.
The results of the demonstration were less than impressive.  Colonel
Howtzer,  your  post  commander  who  was  hosting  the  general,  was
especially less than impressed.
Now, General Culberston has agreed
to
a
return
trip,
and
has
requested
a
"more
definitive"
demonstration.
Captain  Carter  has  been  ordered  to  prepare  the
demonstration.
In  his  unit  briefing,  he  has  stated  that  this
demonstration is going to be *!x**! perfect.  With this in mind, he
has  ordered  that  every  Bradley  in  the  unit  be  boresighted  in
preparation for the demonstration.
3.
First Requirement
Answer these questions about the boresighting procedures:
a.
Describe the method used during the boresighting procedure for
the 25mm gun for determining the accuracy of the boresight telescope.
b.
When the boresight telescope is properly installed in the TOW
launcher, where should the boresight telescope eyepiece be?
