(2) Procedural Steps for Removing the Steering Control Support
Bearing.
NOTE
Lockwashers,  locknuts,  and  cotter
pins
should
always be discarded after removal.
Step 1.
Lower and secure trim vane and then open and secure the
power unit access door.
Step 2.  Remove access cover (1) from the hull as described in Step 2
of paragraph 5c(2) on page 24.
Step 3.  Remove link (17) from lever (18) as described in Step 6 of
paragraph 5c(2) on page 26.
Step 4.  Remove lever (18) and spring (23) as described in Step 7 of
paragraph 5c(2) on page 26.
Step 5.
Remove plate (1) from support bearing (2) by removing two
screws  (3),  lockwashers  (4),  and  plate  (1)  from  support  bearing
(2)(see figure 21 on the following page).
Step 6.  Remove support bearing (2) from bracket (5) by removing two
screws (6), lockwashers (7), and washers (8)(see figure 21).
(3) Procedural Steps for Installing the Steering Control Support
Bearing.
Step  1.
Install  support  bearing  (2),  two  washers  (8),  new
lockwashers (7), and screw (6) on bracket (5).
Be sure to install
screws finger tight (see figure 21).
Step 2.  Install plate (1), two new lockwashers (4), and screws (3)
on support bearing (2)(see figure 21).
WARNING
Failure of control linkage can cause vehicle to
crash and cause injury or death.
Install NEW
cotter pins, locknuts, and lockwashers.
