carrier.  These figures also identify the external components mounted
on the external hull of the A3 and A2 configurations.

Carrier Dimensions and Weights.
The M113A3 is 209.38 inches in length compared to a 191.00 inch
length for the M113A2, which uses an internally mounted fuel tank.
When fitted with the external fuel tanks, the M113A2 is 211.50 inches
in length.  The overall width of the A3 configuration is 106 inches;
the A2 version measures 105-3/4 inches in width, after mounting the
shrouds.
After removing the shrouds, both vehicles have a width of
100 inches.
The A3 configuration, with full load (gross), weighs
27,060 pounds; the A2 configuration weighs 25,007 pounds, full load
(gross).

PART B - RECOGNITION OF THE M113A3 POWER PLANT COMPONENTS
1.
General.
The M113A3 powerpack consists of a 6V53T series engine and X200-4
cross drive transmission, located in the powerpack compartment of the
carrier.
Figure 1-5 illustrates the  powerpack and the  powerpack
compartment of the M113A3 carrier.
