Correct Answer and Feedback
1.
D.
Slave cables and receptacles.
The  M992  Auxiliary  Power  Unit  provides  24  vdc  for  its  own
operation and to the howitzer which it supports.  Use of the APU
in this manner contributes to fuel conservation and reduces main
engine wear on the M992 and the howitzer which it supports.
(Page 2, para 3)
2.
C.
30 psi.
Excessive air pressure could damage air filter element by causing
tears in the filtering material and injury to personnel.  (Page
10, para 1)
3.
B.
Inner portion.
Applying air pressure to the inner portion of the air
cleaner
element  will  cause  contaminants to  be  blown  outward,
in  the
direction in which they entered the filter element.
Blowing
contaminants  inward  will  cause  contaminants  to  become
lodged
deeper into the filter element, still resulting in a
clogged
filter element.  (Page 8, last para)
4.
A.
In vehicle main fuel cells.
The vehicle main fuel cells are used to store the fuel required
for all of the vehicle uses.  (Page 10, para c)
5.
D.
Electric fuel pumps.
Two  electric  fuel  pumps,  placed  in  line  between  the  fuel
distribution terminal and the fuel filter elements.
(Page 10,
para c)
6.
B.
2.
The fuel filters are mounted on the rear bulkhead of the APU
compartment.
The  primary and  secondary  are  used  to  prevent
contaminants  from  entering  the  fuel  injection  pump  and  fuel
injector system.  (Page 12, para d)
